Pokémon Go Max Monday and Max Battle schedule for June 2025

Image
Knowing the Max Battle schedule is useful if you’re looking to expand your inventory of Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go . It does appear that Niantic will start rotating Pokémon in and out of Max Battles on a month-by-month basis, with some event Pokémon littered in. There are also Max Mondays, a weekly event similar to raid hour, where one Pokémon will show up more frequently in power spots from 6-7 p.m. That said, you’ll want a healthy amount of Dynamax Pokémon in your team if you choose to divulge in the feature, as only Dynamax Pokémon can participate in Max Raids. (So you’re pretty much catching Pokémon to help you catch more Pokémon.) Notably, if you’re just starting out with Max Battles, you should have a “To the Max!” Special Research set that starts you off with a Dynamax Wooloo. Below, we list the currently available Dynamax Pokémon that you can score from Max Battles in Pokémon Go . Pokémon Go Max Monday line up for June 2025 These Pokémon will show up in power spot...

One Piece’s Tony Tony Chopper revealed in all his furry live-action-ish glory

Image
After a tease in Netflix’s One Piece season 2 announcement way back in September 2023 , Tony Tony Chopper, the Straw Hats’ resident reindeer-doctor, has officially boarded the pirate ship. Netflix revealed the beloved sidekick’s “live-action” look during its 2025 Tudum stream. Netflix also announced that actor Mikaela Hoover ( Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 , July’s Superman ) provided Chopper’s voice and motion-capture. One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, who has previously gushed over his experience working on the Netflix show, calling it his “last chance” to bring the manga to the masses , previously announced Chopper’s inclusion in the season 2 cast. And what would One Piece be without the wily doc? Not only has Chopper been around for most of Monkey D. Luffy’s quest to be the greatest pirate on the high seas, but his transformations over the years have served as a foundation for Oda’s evolving vision for the long-running series. His look in the live-action series was a b...

Sure, EA College Football 26 is cool, but I miss EA Sports BIG games

Image
It’s that time of the year again when EA Sports begins rolling out its annual sports simulators, with the company issuing a trailer for EA Sports College Football 26 on Thursday. The reveal showed off an admittedly hype video soundtracked by Metallica’s classic “Enter Sandman,” with various programs performing historic pre-game rituals. Sure, College Football 26′ s graphics look more real, the atmosphere feels big, and I’m sure I’ll get a rush from playing it on Xbox Game Pass for a day before deleting and never touching it again, but what I yearn for is fun. What I yearn for is the revival of EA Sports BIG. As a matter of fact, y’all mind if I remember a beloved friend real quick? Electronic Arts created EA Sports BIG in 2000 with a mission to create extreme sports games. An initiative led by Steve Rechtschaffner , the EA Sports BIG banner first appeared on 2000’s SSX , a snowboarding romp that flipped the sport on its head with over-the-top flare, style, and, of course, tricks....

How Bring Her Back’s most stomach-churning shot happened

Image
There’s a scene in Bring Her Back , the latest A24 horror movie from Talk To Me writer-directors (and twin brothers) Danny and Michael Philippou, that’s so violently grotesque, I actually closed my eyes to shut it out. Trying to deny what was going on on the screen just made what was going on in the theater more vivid: The moans and gags of squeamish disgust coming from the audience were almost as loud as the sound effects coming from the movie. When you watch movies for a living — or if you’re a horror fan who’s used to boundary-pushing sequences designed to make an audience squirm — it’s impressive to encounter a scene that hits that hard. But given that it involves a young kid and some particularly intense gore effects, that first wave of “Oh noooo ” pretty quickly gives way to “Wait, how did they do that?” Polygon sat down with the Philippous over video chat to unpack Bring Her Back ’s most violent, startling sequence. [ Ed. note: Spoilers ahead for Bring Her Back .] ...

When making lots of small games is more sustainable than making one big one

Image
If you play indie games, you may have noticed Strange Scaffold’s incredible hit rate. Every single one of the studio’s games — from  Clickolding , I Am Your Beast , and most recently, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tactical Takedown — has ended up somewhere within the “Positive” ranking system on Steam (with several achieving “Very Positive” or even “Overwhelmingly Positive”). So, how does the studio’s creative director Xalavier Nelson Jr. ensure his studio only turns out bangers? To find out, I sat down with Nelson at this past March’s Game Developers Conference — or more accurately, I sat down with him right outside GDC, as he couldn’t afford a ticket to the prestigious (but expensive) game-development networking extravaganza. And even that is part of Nelson’s strategy of working within extremely tight constraints, and never trying to do more than exactly what his studio can afford to do. Think the opposite of Icarus: build the wax wings, but then don’t fly into the sun. Nels...

The Last of Us season 2 failed Ellie in service of safe TV

Image
Without interactivity, the Ellie Williams that players know from the Last of Us games was never going to be the same person as the character who appeared on a television screen on Sunday nights. But by the time season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us reached its finale , it became evident that the TV version of the games’ immune teen protagonist isn’t just an alternate interpretation. Ellie’s character from the games has been butchered, and the show is worse for it.  Despite a long list of differences between the games and Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann’s screen adaptation, there was reason to be hopeful at first. In season 1, The Last of Us made a convincing case for an Ellie mired in teenage rebellion. The TV version of Ellie (played by Bella Ramsey) was comparatively defiant and immature, but that framing was believable for someone who was only 14 when the show began. And I didn’t entirely mind that the adaptation veered from the game version of Ellie, because some of the changes w...

How to play single-player in Elden Ring Nightreign

Image
Elden Ring Nightreign is all about adventuring out on roguelike-style runs with a group of Nightfarers to take down challenging Nightlords. You can also play Nightreign single-player , but FromSoftware has clearly balanced the game and its various challenges around a three-player co-op team. We highly recommend playing with a multiplayer group. But if you’re looking to play Elden Ring Nightreign solo, whether online or offline, I’m not gonna stop you. Just keep in mind that Nightreign doesn’t have summons, so it’s just you and whatever loot you find. In this guide, we’ll tell you how to play single-player in Elden Ring Nightreign so you can start expeditions on extra-hard mode.  How to start a single-player Expedition in Elden Ring Nightreign After completing the initial tutorial and speaking with the Priestess, you’ll have (nearly) full run of the Roundtable Hold, the familiar hub area from the original Elden Ring . The table at the center of the Roundtable Hold is yo...

17 games to play after Elden Ring

Image
Elden Ring is massive and dense. It transplants FromSoftware’s tried-and-true design pillars of difficulty and experimentation into the sprawling Lands Between. And after 100-plus hours with FromSoftware’s magnum opus and its DLC Shadow of the Erdtree , you may be ready for something else. It might not be the multiplayer spin on the formula, Nightreign . So where do you go next? We can help you with that. We’ve broken 17 games into nine unique categories. Each group will offer one suggestion that’s similar to Elden Ring and another that’s nothing like Elden Ring . But each pair will also have a theme that unites them, to better guide your choice of genre or vibe. You’re never going to get that perfect one-to-one Elden Ring feeling without jumping into Bloodborne , the Dark Souls games, or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice . But with our list, you can try to maintain that high with a differently themed but similar game, or gently ride back down to Earth with something completely differe...

The Switch 2 box art disclaimer is ugly, Nintendo fans scream

Image
The Nintendo Switch 2 has been at the center of perpetual online discussions since the console was shown off in earnest in April, with much of the chatter focused on its price . But with just days to go before the June 5 launch, we now find ourselves confronting the newest Switch 2 topic: ugly box art. Yes, if you let some Nintendo fans describe it, the Switch 2’s box art is a sight for sore eyes — but not for the reasons one might think. On Wednesday, Pokémon Company International finally revealed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A would be released on Oct. 16, 2025, for the Switch and Switch 2. Along with the announcement, the company showed off the box art for the forthcoming title, with many Pokémon and Nintendo fans agreeing that the cover illustration was fire . But the discussion quickly soured over how ugly people found the Switch 2 cover compared to the Switch equivalent, all because of a huge disclaimer taking up the bottom of the cover. “Includes the Nintendo Switch game and the...

How to find the Persistent Pot chest in FFXIV’s Occult Crescent

Image
Occult Crescent, the new field operation added to FFXIV: Dawntrail in patch 7.25 has many secrets. Among them are the hidden rewards that you can only find with the help of a Persistent Pot , a devilish little creature you might end up finding while looking for survey points or farming FATEs for the Phantom relic weapon . But if you know how to use them, these creatures can show you the way to great rewards invisible even to the Warrior of Light. These work very similarly to the bunnies in Eureka, so if you remember doing those, you’re already in a good place. Below, we break down how the Persistent Pot mission works and how to find the Persistent Pot chest in FFXIV: Dawntrail. How to get a Persistent Pot in the Occult Crescent To unlock the Persistent Pot, you must first complete the “ Persistent Pot ” or the “ Pleading Pot ” FATEs that appear in the Occult Crescent field operation in the locations below: You can identify these two FATEs by their unique blue icons. While t...

Gigantamax Rillaboom counters, weakness, and battle tips in Pokémon Go

Image
Gigantamax Rillaboom is making its Gigantamax debut in Pokémon Go , and as usual with these types of Pokémon, it’ll be tough to take down. Rillaboom will specifically be around during the weekend portion of the “Serene Retreat” event, from May 31 at 6 a.m. until June 1 at 9 p.m. in your local time. Below we list Gigantamax Rillaboom’s best counters and weaknesses in Pokémon Go , as well as general battle tips for the big guy. Gigantamax Rillaboom weakness Rillaboom is a pure grass-type, so it has a ton of weaknesses: flying -, poison -, bug -, fire -, and ice -type moves. That being said, it’ll be resistant against ground-, water-, grass-, and electric-type moves, so don’t use those unless they’re just fast moves to help charge the max meter. Gigantamax Rillaboom best counters Try to bring at least one of these attackers: Gigantamax Charizard with Fire Spin or Dragon Breath (G-Max Wildfire) Dynamax Darmanitan with Fire Fang (Max Flare) Dynamax Moltres with Wind Atta...

Pokémon Legends: Z-A finally receives release date, with a new Pokémon Presents revealed

Image
The Nintendo Switch 2’s first Pokémon title, Pokémon Legends: Z-A , will officially release on Oct. 16, 2025. Pokémon Company International announced on Wednesday that the game will be available on the Switch with players given the choice to retrieve the Switch 2 edition via an upgrade pack. Digital pre-orders for Pokémon Legends: Z-A will begin on June 5 — the same day the Nintendo Switch 2 releases to the masses.   The Pokémon Company also announced that a new Pokémon Presents livestream is scheduled for July 22, 2025. The stream will include “the latest updates and news from the world of Pokémon.” It wasn’t explicitly stated whether the information would be all about Legends: Z-A , but with the game arriving in five months, it would be fair to think that the Pokémon Presents would have at least some information about the forthcoming title. While trainers wait, they can get their Pokémon fix via new mega evolution merchandise in Pokémon Centers across the United States...

Gamer historians are doing the lord’s work for Myst fans

Image
I have listened to Myst creator Rand Miller tell the tale of how he and his brother Robyn squeezed their 3D puzzling masterpiece onto a tiny CD-Rom back in 1993 many, many times and it always leaves my jaw on the floor. If you’ve experienced the thrill of venturing to the Mechanical Age and retrieving a few pages for Achenar, Miller’s anecdotes of developing the game on Mac’s rudimentary HyperCard application are equally as mind-boggling.  If you also consider yourself a Myst head, the Video Game History Foundation has arrived with the ultimate gift: hours and hours of unfiltered behind-the-scenes interviews, B-roll, and other videotaped ephemera from Miller’s vault at Cyan Worlds. The VGHF, a non-profit dedicated to preserving video games and the media made about them, embarked on a quest to digitize Cyan Worlds’ archives after noticing in the trailer for an upcoming Myst documentary that Miller had metric tons of Beta and VHS tapes chronicling the history of the company’s...

With To a T, Keita Takahashi almost made a normal game

Image
Demoing his new game To a T to press, Keita Takahashi, the creator of Katamari Damacy and one of gaming’s great absurdists, was asked by Digital Trends’ Giovanni Colantonio what drew him to make such oddball games. According to Colantonio , Takahashi regarded the journalist sadly and said, “I was trying to make a normal one this time.” Having played through the game, I’m happy to report that Takahashi’s innate playfulness, love of nonsense, and talent for wacky character designs — my favourite in To a T is Pengustav, a weight-training penguin — remain undimmed. But I’m equally happy to report, for Takahashi’s sake anyway, that he didn’t exactly fail in his quest. To a T is a game with a relatable story (sort of), told in the conventional idiom of a narrative action-adventure, and accessible to the broadest possible audience (it will be a great game for kids and families). And this matters, because Takahashi has a heartfelt and plainspoken point to make. To a T ’s blend of silline...
