Genshin Impact publisher Cognosphere (which is also called Hoyoverse) is settling a United States Federal Trade Commission lawsuit over selling loot boxes to players under the age of 16. It’ll pay a $20 million fine for allegedly violating U.S. children’s privacy laws and “deciev[ing] children and other users about the real costs of in-game translations and odds of obtaining rare prizes.” The company will also stop selling loot boxes to people under the age of 16 without parental consent. The complaint covers not only the act of selling loot boxes to people under the age of 16, but also alleges that Hoyoverse has mishandled children’s data and personal information. “ Genshin Impact deceived children, teens, and other players into spending hundreds of dollars on prizes they stood little chance of winning,” FTC consumer protection director Samuel Levine said in a news release . “Companies that deploy these dark-pattern tactics will be held accountable if they deceive players, partic...

Trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket has been known since the app’s announcement back in Feb. 2024, but the trade button in the Social Hub has been greyed out and slapped with a “coming soon” sticker since launch. The first full trailer for the Until Dawn movie has arrived, and it probably doesn’t look quite how you expected. Confirmed Switch 2 games are few and far between, as Nintendo has only just announced its next console following months of fervent speculation and leaks — but there are some out there. Though Nintendo’s Jan. 16 reveal was a hardware-focused showcase with just one game to speak of, there have been Switch 2 games confirmed by a small handful of developers in the lead-up to the reveal, with more likely to be announced in the days and weeks to come. OK, so what can you play on the Nintendo Switch 2? Mario Kart, apparently. Nintendo debuted the Switch 2 on Thursday , finally shining an official light on the worst kept secret from the past several years. The short video focused largely on the Switch 2’s hardware — the new features and upgrades that make the console next generation. Of course, the hardware is very little without games, and despite them not being the focus of the announcement, Nintendo did give a brief look at what appears to be a new Mario Kart 9 (or whatever fancy title it gets in the end). The sneak peek at the game is very short — seconds long — and shows iconic Mario Kart racers speeding through a desert racetrack that’s called the Mario Bros. Circuit, and tearing by a Yoshi’s drive-in restaurant and billboards for Luigi’s Tires. Nintendo has finally revealed the successor console to the Nintendo Switch in a short promotional video. It’s called Nintendo Switch 2 and, true to the extensive leaks , it appears to be a larger and more powerful version of its predecessor. Nintendo did not announce a release date or price for the new console, but the company did confirm a 2025 release window. Nintendo showed only one game with its Switch 2 reveal: a new Mario Kart game. As previously reported, the console is closely modeled on its hugely successful predecessor. It’s a hybrid console, playable both in portable mode and on TV via the use of a dock, with detachable Joy-Con controllers. Storm has swiftly taken the throne as the strongest character in Marvel Rivals season 1. A recent round of buffs catapulted her from one of the least powerful damage dealers to a menace at all skill levels in the hero shooter’s ranked mode. According to stats tracker site RivalsMeta , which gets its data from the game’s robust API, she has the highest win rate out of all 35 heroes, at around 57%. Last season, she was only at 51%, and generally considered one of the weakest duelists, compared to popular picks like Hela, Hawkeye, and Psylocke. But a slight buff to her damage output and survivability during her hurricane ultimate tipped the scale. Shroodle makes its debut in Pokémon Go as part of Jan. 2025’s “Fashion Week: Taken Over” event. The Gen 9 poison- and normal-type has a single evolution, Grafaiai , which can also be added to your Pokédex with enough candy. Similar to many recent new Pokémon in Pokémon Go , Shroodle cannot be found in the wild, and instead, is only discovered through hatching eggs. How to get Shroodle in Pokémon Go Making its first appearance in 2025’s “Fashion Week: Taken Over” event, Shroodle can be found by hatching 12km eggs, which are sourced from defeating Team Go Rocket leaders in battle.
