Deadpool & Wolverine hits Disney Plus in two weeks
Marvel’s Deadpool & Wolverine, a collision of the Fox X-Men universe and MCU proper, is the biggest hit of the year so far. In fact, 14 weeks after its premiere, it’s still in 300 theaters, scraping a few thousand bucks here and there to brings its grand box-office total to $636.5 million — and that’s just in the States. But it’s on its last legs, which means it’s time for Deadpool & Wolverine to get the primetime pre-Thanksgiving streaming release date that ensures it becomes the biggest thing on the planet a second time.
Disney announced on Wednesday the movie arrives to Disney Plus on Nov. 12. The streaming release will also arrive with Ryan Reynolds and director Shawn Levy’s movie commentary, which as Polygon previewed earlier this fall, is ripe with behind-the-scenes insight and expected dipshittery. Whatever you think of Deadpool & Wolverine, this is honestly a great turn of events – why don’t more streaming releases come bundled with director commentaries?
Despite Marvel taking to San Diego Comic-Con on the heels of Deadpool & Wolverine’s opening weekend success and announcing plans for new Avengers movies (complete with a return from Robert Downey Jr.), the future of Deadpool in the MCU remains unclear. There was no immediate announcement of a Deadpool 4 or even a suggestion that Reynolds would pop in one of the many crossover movies planned through 2027. Murmurs suggest that Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot won’t feature Wolverine to leave the door open for Hugh Jackman’s return, but for now, it’s all conjecture.
For now, fans of the duo’s antics will have to settle for Deadpool & Wolverine, which starting in November, will be primed to break the fourth-wall of your TV screen.
