In summer 2023, Blizzard debuted Overwatch 2 ’s Flashpoint , a combination of Control and Assault where teams race to occupy a series of territory points. Flashpoint was the first new map type for the series since the unpopular Push launched alongside Overwatch 2 , and kind of a big deal. It was also kind of a disaster. Almost immediately upon launch, Reddit filled up with complaints about the mode’s map designs. Fast forward to Overwatch 2 season 17 , which kicked off on Tuesday, with a set of redesigned Flashpoint maps and it’s a much different story. Blizzard’s more relaxed approach to letting people play Overwatch 2 the way they want has turned Flashpoint into a great time. Nintendo has revealed what will be the first post-launch addition to the GameCube library on the Switch 2: knockabout soccer title Super Mario Strikers , coming next week. Super Mario Strikers joins Soulcalibur 2 , The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker , and F-Zero GX on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service on Thursday, July 3. PlayStation Plus subscribers’ free Essential games for July 2025 are  Diablo 4 , The King of Fighters 15 , and Jusant ,  Sony Interactive Entertainment announced Wednesday . Players can download the trio of games beginning July 1. Diablo 4 is, of course, Blizzard Entertainment’s latest entry in its loot-focused, dark-fantasy, action-role-playing game series. The newest Diablo game, released in 2023, features a single-player and cooperative campaign against the forces of Hell, and features five playable classes: Barbarian, Sorcerer, Rogue, Necromancer, and Druid. (A sixth, Spiritborn, was added in the Vessel of Hatred DLC.) Diablo 4 will be available through PS Plus for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. After wrapping up 30 years of plot with the Avengers: Endgame -style crossover set March of the Machines , Magic: The Gathering ’s storytelling has taken a backseat in the past few years. Wizards of the Coast increased its focus on Universes Beyond sets based on popular IP like Final Fantasy , The Lord of the Rings, and Doctor Who. Even when Magic returned to its own world of Planeswalkers, the game mostly focused on taking the characters through a series of genres from the Wild West to a Gothic murder mystery.
