Poltergeist , which is currently available to stream on HBO Max, follows an ordinary suburban family who begin to experience strange things in their home. Furniture and toys move on their own, a glass of milk shatters out of nowhere, and the youngest child in the family, five-year-old Carol Anne (Heather O'Rourke), begins to communicate with beings through the television. At first these events are dismissed, but during a thunderstorm one night, a tree outside the windows of the kids’ room crashes in and snatches the boy. Then, a portal opens in their closet, sucking Carol Anne into another dimension. With help from some paranormal investigators, the family tries everything to bring her back. source https://www.polygon.com/poltergeist-tobe-hooper-steven-spielberg-on-hbo-max/

Nothing hits quite like a good mystery. Whether it's a seemingly impossible murder, a missing person, or a conspiracy set against the backdrop of a small town, the best TV mysteries keep you guessing right up until the credits roll. They're the kinds of shows that make you scrutinize every passing detail and second-guess each new character. Still, despite the overriding conviction that you cracked the case long before the detectives, it’s almost always someone you least expect. source https://www.polygon.com/best-mystery-tv-shows-worth-solving/

For 25 years from 1986 to 2011, writer Brian Jacques stole the hearts of readers everywhere with his Redwall series of fantasy novels . The Rogue Crew was released in 2011, three months after Jacques' death, and for 15 years it has remained the final entry in the series — until now. source https://www.polygon.com/redwall-fantasy-book-series-2027-release-orphans-of-mossflower/

Rockstar Games is known for bringing biting and often puerile satire to its Grand Theft Auto games. The 13-year span between Grand Theft Auto 5 and Grand Theft Auto 6 means there's plenty of American culture to interrogate or poke fun at, but a few things will be off the table, according to new previews of Rockstar's upcoming game. Two things that GTA 6 won't directly address, according to a new report: Donald Trump’s rise to political power and the COVID-19 pandemic. source https://www.polygon.com/gta-6-trump-rockstar-games/

Fantasy is a broad genre of fiction, and low fantasy might be one of its most slippery corners. The term can describe anything from stories where magic barely exists — like Game of Thrones — to tales in which the supernatural quietly intrudes on an otherwise recognizable world, akin to Pan’s Labyrinth . Unlike high fantasy, which often transports readers to entirely invented worlds with their own mythologies, low fantasy finds the extraordinary lurking just beneath the surface of the familiar. source https://www.polygon.com/best-low-fantasy-books/

Larson didn’t do deep . He didn’t do inspirational. Many of his cartoons required you to think, but not because they were thoughtful in the lofty sense. They required thought because Larson’s work was brilliant, and you sometimes had to figure out what the punchline was. For example, this comic strip where an artist is painting a woman as a half-fly creature. You likely see the woman or the painting first, and you wonder why the artist is painting her that way. Only after inspecting the comic more closely do you see the dead fly on his glasses. Larson’s work often requires the reader to investigate something, but usually not in any kind of overly deep way. source https://www.polygon.com/best-far-side-quote-ever/

Every once in a while, I come across a line that feels bigger than the book that birthed it. Of course, there are classics with years of literary study behind them that speak volumes on the nature of society, technology, or the world writ large. But few are quite as elegant or as profoundly humanistic as the final moments of Arkady and Boris Strugatsky’s Roadside Picnic . The 1972 novel offers a very different kind of sci-fi ending than its myriad predecessors and successors. source https://www.polygon.com/best-scifi-book-closing-line/
