2025 is the best year for 2D platformers since the SNES days

If you’re the kind of gamer who loves saying “They don’t make them like they used to,” 2025 has been your year. In between modern behemoths like Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Monster Hunter Wilds, we’ve gotten a steady drip of retro-inspired games that call back to the good old days of 2D platformers. The floodgates have burst in the last few weeks especially though, as three high-profile games have stolen the thunder of much bigger releases. Even with a few months still to go in 2025, I’m confident in saying that we’re currently living through the best years for 2D platformers since the Super NES era gave way to the 3D age.

Pokémon Go Max Monday and Max Battle schedule for June 2025

Knowing the Max Battle schedule is useful if you’re looking to expand your inventory of Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go . It does appear that Niantic will start rotating Pokémon in and out of Max Battles on a month-by-month basis, with some event Pokémon littered in. There are also Max Mondays, a weekly event similar to raid hour, where one Pokémon will show up more frequently in power spots from 6-7 p.m. That said, you’ll want a healthy amount of Dynamax Pokémon in your team if you choose to divulge in the feature, as only Dynamax Pokémon can participate in Max Raids. (So you’re pretty much catching Pokémon to help you catch more Pokémon.)
