Absolum review: the retro beat-'em-up formula gets a few neat tricks

Absolum, like so many of its roguelike peers, is a game about experimentation. Four heroes set out on a quest to defeat a mad tyrant and save their realm, but they are all but destined to fail on their first attempt. The only path to victory is through change, mixing and matching magic spells to more effectively cut through rooms full of soldiers, lizards, and suicidal mushrooms. Even their route to the big bad can’t remain static, as being bold enough to venture down new paths will lead them to new spells and secrets. You don’t win a war without shaking up your tactics every now and again.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 writer Jennifer Svedberg-Yen would be the first to tell you: writing a video game is work . At least writing a novel is a one-person operation for most of the time. Knowing the Max Battle schedule is useful if you’re looking to expand your inventory of Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go . It does appear that Niantic will start rotating Pokémon in and out of Max Battles on a month-by-month basis, with some event Pokémon littered in. There are also Max Mondays, a weekly event similar to raid hour, where one Pokémon will show up more frequently in power spots from 6-7 p.m. That said, you’ll want a healthy amount of Dynamax Pokémon in your team if you choose to divulge in the feature, as only Dynamax Pokémon can participate in Max Raids. (So you’re pretty much catching Pokémon to help you catch more Pokémon.)
