Amazon will force your old Kindle into obsolescence this May

Exciting news for people who love to buy things twice: Amazon recently announced via email that, as of May 20, it is ending support for any Kindle that was released in 2012 or earlier. As of the cutoff date, these devices will no longer connect to Amazon, meaning you won't be purchasing, borrowing, or downloading any new books with them. Your Kindle will still be able to access the books you already have stored, but you won't be able to browse the store or access third-party platforms, including library apps like Libby and OverDrive. Added bonus, if you do a factory reset, the device will become unusable.

Knowing the Max Battle schedule is useful if you’re looking to expand your inventory of Dynamax Pokémon in Pokémon Go . It does appear that Niantic will start rotating Pokémon in and out of Max Battles on a month-by-month basis, with some event Pokémon littered in. There are also Max Mondays, a weekly event similar to raid hour, where one Pokémon will show up more frequently in power spots from 6-7 p.m. That said, you’ll want a healthy amount of Dynamax Pokémon in your team if you choose to divulge in the feature, as only Dynamax Pokémon can participate in Max Raids. (So you’re pretty much catching Pokémon to help you catch more Pokémon.) The new Vox Machina book finally gives Shaun Gilmore his due — read an excerpt here

As soon as Random House revealed the table of contents for its short-story collection Critical Role: Vox Machina — Stories Untold (publishing March 4), I knew exactly which story I wanted to read first: Aabria Iyengar ’s “Shaun,” about everybody’s favorite recurring NPC with a crush on a PC, Shaun Gilmore . I always felt like Shaun got a raw deal in Critical Role’s animated adaptation The Legend of Vox Machina : He’s portrayed as a skilled sorcerer, a savvy merchant, and a scheming politico, but he’s also kind of an affection-operated dispensing machine, and a bit of a retro queer stereotype. The original actual play episodes offer some humanizing detail about him, and put his relationship with Vox Machina party member Vax’ildan on a more equal footing. But the animated series makes his long-standing crush on Vax seem both a little oppressive (constant, unreciprocated, gushy flirting; Vax always looking a bit squirmy and constipated around him) and like a weakness that turns him in...
